At 15:40 on December 19th, 2023, following the departure order, the trial operation vehicle of China-Korea Multimodal Full Truck Load Transport (Weihai-Incheon) drove out of Weihai Port Customs supervision area and slowly entered "New Golden Bridge VII" vessel. The truck was full of e-commerce export goods, and hereinafter referred to as FTL. The next day, the truck arrived at Incheon Port in Korea along with the passenger and cargo liner and unloaded at Incheon Airport. The exported goods were transferred to other places of the world with various international flights. As the only Chinese operator of the FTL project, Sinotrans actively collaborates with various ports in China and Korea, and establishes comprehensive process system for the project through operational management such as business processes, vehicle management, transportation prices, and risk control.
Compared with the current "sea freight+air freight" transportation mode, FTL needs not involve changing or rolling on/off the ship, which increases the speed by nearly 5 hours and reduces logistics costs by about 30%. The trial run of China-Korea Multimodal FTL Transport (Weihai-Incheon) is the first operation since the Memorandum of Understanding on the Trial Operation of China-Korea Multimodal Transport (Weihai-Incheon) came into effect. And it is also the first innovative practice of international multimodal transport model of "sea-land-air integration+roll on/roll off-FTL" in China.
As early as 1990, Sinotrans has participated in the opening of the first passenger and cargo liner “Golden Bridge” vessel route between China and Korea. The launch of multimodal FTL transportation (Weihai-Incheon) between China and Korea will become a new model for trade exchanges between the two countries, helping to promote high-quality development and high-level opening up in Weihai and Jiaodong regions. At present, Sinotrans has reached cooperation intentions with several leading e-commerce and precision manufacturing enterprises, which guarantees sufficient cargo source for the project.
In the future, Sinotrans will continue to leverage its operational advantages across the entire network, making full use of the geographical and network advantages of airports and seaports in Weihai and Incheon, to create a two-way logistics golden channel for China and Korea to transfer to Europe, America, Southeast Asia, and even the world, and to build a stable, safe, and resilient land-sea intermodal transportation logistics system between China and Korea.
