SINOTRANS Actively Participating in Logistics Service for Beijing 2008 Olympic Games

Date:2008-12-27

The successful hosting of Beijing 2008 Olympic Games is an important event of our country and it is also the common wish of all Chinese people. Propelled and coordinated by Fairs & Events Dept. and other relative departments, SINOTRANS has taken an active part in the logistics service for Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.

SINOTRANS has actively consulted with BOCOG and senior sponsors for the Games since 2007. In order to cooperate with them, SINOTRANS dispatched the elites of all departments to organize a specialized team for the Games and participated in all previous technical training and coordination meetings organized by BOCOG. At the beginning of 2008, SINOTRANS signed an Authorization for Application to Customs and Application to Inspection and a Cooperative Agreement on On-site Logistics of Olympic Village with BOCOG and Olympic sponsors, fully participating in the service for Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.

On-site Logistics Service for the Athletes' Village and two media villages

SINOTRANS has cooperated with UPS -- a senior sponsor for BOCOG, undertaking the on-site logistics distribution for Beijing Athletes' Village, Green Homeland Media Village and Huiyuan Media Village.

Since March 2008, organized and coordinated by the Fairs & Events Dept., SINOTRANS has assigned about 90 managers, superintendents and workers with some mechanical shovels to work in the Olympic Village. All staff worked hand in hand, rwent severe test, endured great pressure and smoothly weathered through the Load-In period, the Games time during which goods and materials are frequently loaded in and out, the peak period of the arrival and departure of athletes and media reporters before the opening ceremony and after the closing ceremony, and the transition period from Olympic Games to Paralympic Games. Site work progressed in order and all staff made great efforts to stick to their posts around the clock, overcoming the difficulties such as long working hours, strong working intensity, driving troubles, working complexity and no experience to refer to. Depending on rich logistics working experience and high-quality staff with hardworking spirit, we assisted BOCOG to complete the task successfully, doing our part for the smooth and perfect operation of the Olympics.

Load-in and load-out of goods and materials for accredited media

Through the training and assessment organized by BOCOG, SINOTRANS has signed Beijing 2008 Olympics Games Authorization for Application to Customs and Application to Inspection with BOCOG, officially becoming one of the 23 enterprises bearing responsibility for application to customs and application to inspection recommended by BOCOG. With the joint efforts of all departments of SINOTRANS, we have successfully undertaken the logistics distribution for accredited media from countries such as Japan, Germany and the Republic of Chile, and Olympic venues in Beijing such as the Bird's Nest, Water Cube, Wukesong Venues Cluster, China Agricultural University Gymnasium, Beijing Science and Technology University Gymnasium, Shunyi Olympic Rowing-Canoeing Park, Public Area of Olympic Park, International Broadcast Center and Main Press Center. What is particularly worth mentioning is that 90% of the import and export of the OB apparatus of accredited media of Japan and its on-site service have been undertaken by SINOTRANS.

During this Olympic Games, SINOTRANS continued to carry forward the pragmatic, diligent and tenacious spirit and made due contribution to our nation.
